The 2006 Palo Alto Black and White Ball is packed with exciting entertainment. This black-tie gala offers diverse theatrical, stage, and musical performances and dancing to live bands until 1:00am in the Stern Ballroom and outdoor venues-under the stars!

  Brass Mafia is a ten-piece band featuring many members of the Jazz Mafia and other bands. It includes Adam Theis on sousaphone/bass/trombone, Mike Olmos on trumpet, Joe Cohen on saxes, Joel Behrman on trombone/trumpet, Danny Grewen on trombone/vocals, Colin Hogan on keyboards, Matt Lucas on percussion, Will Bernard on guitar, and Emily Schmidt and Ryan Green on vocals.

  The Brass Mafia plays a dance revue style that includes swing, jump blues, jazz, Latin, soul, funk, and modern hits. The band performs regularly at the Boom Boom Room in San Francisco.

  Andrea grew up within two cultures, being raised by an American father and a German mother.  She spent most of her life in Germany and Austria while visiting the USA as often as possible.  At the age of 5 she started singing in church choirs and was a member of several choirs throughout her junior/high school years. Since 1996 she has been seriously studying voice, working with several teachers in Munich and the US.

  She started singing on the street and soon was gigging in professional settings in duo/trio/combo/big band formations in different styles from pop/soul to blues/jazz.  She has sung at numerous jazz festivals and jazz clubs, including the prestigious "die Unterfahrt" in Munich

  Andrea moved to the Bay Area in early 2003 and is now gigging with duos and larger combos.  Her repertoire contains a mix of songs from jazz and soul, and also includes some of her favorite German songs, sung in the original language.  In addition, she has recently begun developing her own material.
