2006 Palo Alto Black And White Ball

Had a great night at Palo Alto's Black & White Ball, Tania was such a sport to come with me-- it's sooo not her scene. What saved the night was running into preschool family buddies Paul & Carolina Abbassi who were a blast to chat with all night. I was hoping to spend more time with Glennia Campbell & Frank Schellenberg, Jill & Michael Asher, Pam & David Hornik, Audrey Overstreet and others, but we got caught up with gabbing with Paul & Carolina.

Great food (3X more), waay better than 2 years ago when it was soo much more crowded and ran out earlier. Better wine, Schug brought their Carneros delights and I had my first Pinotage from Amador. Excellent performances both in the amphitheater as well as the headliners: Stephan Jenkins of Third Eye Blind and Thomas Dolby and Bayonics. I'd never seen Dolby live-- seeing him rock out to Europa with his whole body into it - hip swaying, piano jazz scatting and all, was such a pleasure. Rocking out with Paul & Carolina (with Pam & David not far away), even more so.

Can't wait for another 2 years before i get my tux out again ;)

Palo Alto Recreation Foundation:   The Recreation & Youth Sciences Division is proud to present the Community Star Award to the Palo Alto Recreation Foundation.   The Foundation's mission is to promote the social, cultural, and recreational needs of the residents of the City of Palo Alto and neighboring communities.   The Foundation supports a variety of City of Palo Alto Recreation programs and community events that enhance the extraordinary quality of life in the area. The primary fund raising tool of the Recreation Foundation is the Palo Alto Black and White Ball.   In 2004, net proceeds from the Ball were approximately $180,000 and the Palo Alto schools were included as beneficiaries for the first time.   This gala event showcased the wonderful civic spirit of the local community and outstanding leadership and volunteerism of the Palo Alto Recreation Foundation.
